Merrell's MQM shoes combine hiking boot with trail runner

Winter is the season where footwear choices become more difficult. Your go-to running shoes may be comfortable, but after a little bit of time in cold, windy, or snowy conditions, your feet will not appreciate the breathability that’s so welcomed in the summer. Merrell’s MQM Flex Gore-Tex shoes are a hybrid of light a hiking boot/trail runner that’s the perfect bad-weather option for those who want to spend time hiking, running, or evening cycling during the winter.

The MQM stands for “moving quickly in the mountains,” and the shoes are designed to do just that. The M Select Grip on the outsole provides stickier and more durable traction whether you’re on an alpine trail or an icy sidewalk. They are sturdy enough for the rigors of rough terrain, yet they have good flexibility to provide a traditional running-shoe feel. The waterproof Gore-Tex upper keeps your feet warm and dry — you can even wear them with snowshoes, especially on packed snow. While they don’t have the insulation of a traditional winter boot, these shoes will do the job for most aerobic activities in the winter.
